Great list, David! I do agree that Murray’s has a great patio – I sat out there today. I don’t know about how great the bar is for the neighborhood, simply because I live in B’side. But I can tell you that unfortunately, that’s where it ends for me. The service was silly and spotty (and indulged in one of my pet peeves: over-explaining why things were wrong – I don’t care, I just want my food the way I ordered it and not raw in the middle), the food was mediocre at best (except the ranch dressing, which was wonderful) and we were, at noon, two of 5 people in the place. I’m sorry it’s not doing well, but there may be glaring reasons for it.

I have never heard of the Glore Psychiatric Museum. Now I have to go. In fact, there are a few places on your list I’ve never been to and now am required to do so.

One last thing, I’d like to add that Crybaby Ranch is the best band name EVER.

You mean it isn’t always sediment in the glass of red wine? One of my favorite exchanges with a bartender ever:
Me: There is something in this wine
BT: It’s probably just sediment
Me: Uh, sediment doesn’t float

I’ve found also that “fruit flies” have favorite things. In the absence of, say, whiskey, they will go for the cider vinegar. In the absence of red wine, they’ll infest the whiskey, etc.

They are drawn to light. Since writing this post, I have seen very impressive results from a device that has a bright blue light on the front and a sheet of fly paper like adhesive behind it. I would also recommend the whiskey traps for this situation. They are even more effective when in an area where there is no alternative food source.

I’m currently battling them also. They are around my computer and electronic book. There has been no food in this area. I’m not sure whether they are gnats or fruit flies.

It’s now May of 2012. The empty shell which was Jardine’s is still empty or at least closed for business. Jazz has survived the spectacle on Main St. Sad to think of the lives disrupted and ruined in the short run. I also worked for someone with a loose grip on reality. That shocking period of my life after our mass firing still tugs at me. The business is connected to the owner(s). If they falter or shoot themselves in the feet, their business and reputation will suffer. Just a few thoughts wrt to the sad blowout of a life and location. Selah!
